The Festival of Popular Cuisine of the Alps returns for a second edition to Jausiers on May 19

This is a date that lovers of Italian flavors should remember. Next Sunday, May 19, Jausiers will become for one day the capital of popular cuisine in the Alps. Eight cooks from northern Italy and Ubaye will offer typical dishes from their region. Recipes from Liguria, the Dolomites, Val d’Aosta, Terres Monviso and Ubaye will be in the spotlight during this second edition of the Festival of Popular Cuisine of the Alps.

Organized under the leadership of the Compania del Buon Camino, the day, dedicated to meetings and gastronomy, will be an opportunity for festival-goers to discover traditional Franco-Italian flavors and recipes. In addition to gourmet discoveries at lunchtime, an Italian products market and a conference on Franco-Italian gastronomy with tasting will be offered. There will also be free tours in French and Italian.

The first edition of this event was held in 2023 in Castellar in the Saluzzo region and brought together nearly 2,000 people. Festival-goers will be able to discover the typical ravioli of Mendatica (Liguria), the sweet specialties of Valle d’Aosta, the meat and cheese polenta prepared by the chef of the Rifugio della Pace, the anchovies and venison from the Saluzzo region, the parmesan crozets served with Ubayan charcuterie by Broche de l’Ubaye and the pulled pork burger, signature dish of the Chomp Chomp food truck.

The beautiful part of traditions

This meeting, supported by the Compania del Buon Camino association, in partnership with the municipalities of Terres Monviso, namely Jausiers, Saluzzo and Castellar, gives pride of place to traditions through exchanges and popular recipes from the Alps mountains. The project emerges from the Terres Monviso program, aiming to bring together stakeholders in the Mont Viso territory while ensuring the promotion of the cross-border destination on the international tourism scene.
