The investigations opened as part of the accountability process launched by the new authorities do not only concern the dignitaries of the old regime themselves. The people who serve as their nominees are also in the sights of justice. The financial prosecutor’s office has launched proceedings against the latter.
According to Libération, which provides the information, the prosecutor “ordered an investigation to shed light on important land transfers made in favor of Sci [Société civile immobilière] on sites like the one called ‘Boa’ where all operations have been suspended.
Around thirty Sci would be affected, according to the newspaper. Which specifies that justice suspects the declared bosses of these companies of not being the real bosses. In his eyes, reports the same source, these Sci would serve “the interests of former dignitaries of the regime, their relatives or even their offspring in certain cases”.
Libération informs that investigators were asked “to verify the conditions in which these transfers were carried out, the regularity of the operations, but also the alleged links between the leaders of these Sci and dignitaries of the old regime”.
