The Quebec entertainment company ComediHa! is extending its tentacles and will offer a comedy festival in the metropolis this summer. The event will be held from July 18 to 28, the dates that were planned for the Just for Laughs Festival, which had to be canceled due to the difficult financial situation of the organizing group.

The event named ComediHa! salutes Montreal benefits from a budget of 10 million dollars, we can read in the press release issued Wednesday morning. It is organized to mark the 25th anniversary of ComediHa! Fest, a summer meeting for humor lovers in the Quebec capital.

The Montreal version of the festival will be held in the heart of the Quartier des spectacles. It will offer paid galas, but also free shows. The program will be revealed in the coming weeks.

It would have been inconceivable that our metropolis did not have a festival [d’humour] worthy of the name this summer. Quickly, public and private partners mobilized and made everything possible. On behalf of the industry, the comedy community and its many artisans, I sincerely thank themsays Sylvain Parent-Bédard, president and CEO of ComediHa!, in the press release.

The ComediHa! also announced in March that he was taking up the torch of the musical Waitress after reaching an agreement with the rights holders and Just for Laughs.
