While the flame arrives this Wednesday, May 8 in Marseille after a trip aboard the ship Belem, the deadline is getting closer in Franche-Comté. The flame will travel through the Doubs department on Tuesday June 25. From Chaux-Neuve to Besançon, here is the route ahead.

On March 25, the Doubs department revealed to the press the names of the 7 Doubist sites which will mark the route of the Paris 2024 Olympic flame. Cities and sites chosen for “to be the mirror of the department in its diversity” in the words of the president of the department Christine Bouquin (LR).

To see the flame pass, the department of course had to put its hand in its pocket. On the recommendation of the Assembly of French Departments, it was agreed that each candidate department should pay 180,000 euros, a fixed price which does not then include the organization costs of the day.

In Besançon, the Olympic flame, lit on April 16 in the grounds of Olympia in Greece, will end its relay in the water station park where the public should be present in large numbers.

In Doubs, 100 torchbearers will carry this historic symbol of Olympism. Among these men and women, we find athletes like Fabrice Guy, Olympic Nordic combined champion in 1992 in Albertville, but also honored citizens. This is the case of Mylène Dhote, one of the three women heads of a Doubs fire rescue center in Mouthe, or of Joey Cachet, a 23-year-old young woman who grew up in a foster family and was chosen for his life journey marked by courage and self-sacrifice.
