The Butterfly Country association located in Montclar celebrated its tenth anniversary by dancing online

It was at the start of the 2014 school year that the Butterfly Country association launched its activity under the leadership of Liliane Kalfandian who, practicing in Marseille, had promised to create her own club once she retired. Based in Montclar, she therefore chose to launch the club there with Françoise Isoard.

Ten years later, these two enthusiasts are still in the positions of president and secretary. They were quickly joined by Claude Codan, who took on the role of treasurer and also played a key role in the technical field since he ensured the sound system and set up the association’s activities. The 10th anniversary of Butterfly Country was an opportunity for him to celebrate his 80th birthday.

When the association was created, Liliane launched not one but several activities since, in addition to the promotion and development of country dance, she also offered photography courses. But, if the country has taken well with a core of around fifteen faithful and others a little less regular, the photography courses have had less and less success until being suspended, they could however be relaunched if the demand manifests itself.

In addition to the country lessons given on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at the Montclar multipurpose room, and the organization of courses and evenings, the club also participates in days offered by other clubs and even at an important festival in Spain. Finally, since 2018, the association has taken over the organization of the major Montclar Western and Country Festival which takes place the first weekend of July, from the 5th to the 7th this year, to launch the summer season.

A celebration in two stages

This birthday party took place in two stages. A day with a workshop led by choreographer Marie-Claude Gil and the group Backwest, already present during the first evening of Butterfly Country in 2016, opened the festivities. It was reserved for members and guests. And, after the meal and the cutting of the birthday cake, a great concert was scheduled with the Blues Brothers Tribute group, open to all.

After rock and roll and rhythm and blues, the evening ended in country style on the dance floor. We left each other late at night to meet from July 5 to 7, which will mark the 16th Western and Country Festival, the program of which promises to be enticing and very danceable.
