The first deputy at the town hall, Maxime Couston, explains the objectives of this work which is “not yet finished”.

The part of the central reservation of Boulevard Lacombe located opposite La Poste in Bagnols-sur-Cèze was tarmaced last week. On social networks, this work aroused curiosity and great incomprehension among Bagnolais. “We are moving the small Friday and Saturday market of local producers from Place Boulot to Boulevard Lacombeindicates Maxime Couston, the first deputy. They carried out their profession in conditions which were not necessarily pleasant. It was necessary to tarmac for hygiene reasons. There was no need for an absorbent floor like there was, especially for odors.” The elected official explains that residents were complaining about the smells from the fish market.

For now, the tar is trapping the trees. Which provoked criticism. The first deputy ensures that the work is not finalized. “Only the first phase has been completed. From May 13, we will frame each tree with a permeable covering which, at the same time, will prevent the grass from growing back. There will be pretty borders.”

With this new location, the town hall wants to develop this small market. Local producers who wish can even set up there every day. “It’s a very positive project that we’ve been working on for monthscontinues Maxime Couston. Lacombe Boulevard will be a more appropriate and dynamic place to organize the small market.” The mayor, Jean-Yves Chapelet, adds that this work was carried out “in agreement with the traders”.
