Small weekend but big meetings between the inhabitants of the communes of Beaumont-Saint-Cyr, Halstroff, Grindorff-Bizing and Laumesfeld. For thirty years, residents have met regularly as a gesture of friendship, and in memory of the many Mosellans who took refuge in the commune of Poitou in the 1940s.

Some of them arrived with just a bundle, they had left everything behind in the face of the Nazi invasion. Grateful for many years, with the friendship of elders and the reinforcement of new generations, nearly forty people have rediscovered the past of their ancestors. Long embraces for reunions every two years, the mayors of the respective municipalities at their head, it was many years later that a twinning took place.

The gathering of welcoming people from the town and Moselle families took place in the new youth room, where weekend visitors were welcomed by Mayor Nicolas Réveillaut, surrounded by Patrick Pastour, deputy mayor, and elected officials. On the program, a visit to our region and then to the Poitevin marshes before a shared meal with all the friends, with a thought for those who were unable to come for this meeting and a tear in the eye for the dearly departed, refugees and welcoming for more than 80 years.

The next meeting in Moselle is already planned, with all the elders who experienced this era and the reunion and a new generation who wants to know the journey of their ancestors.
