80th D-Day. The Flame of Liberty arrives in the English Channel on Sunday

On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Normandy Landings, the Flame of Liberty will cross the historic sector of the English Channel. She will be Sunday May 12, 2024 in Carentan-les-Marais, before reaching Sainte-Mère-Eglise the next day and Cherbourg Tuesday May 14, 2024.

It will mark the entry into the commemorations of the 80e anniversary of the Normandy Landings: the Flame of Liberty, which left Paris, will be taken to the United States, passing through the United Kingdom. Her path takes her to the English Channel in the days to come.

The Flame of Liberty will be on Sunday May 12, 2024 in Carentan-les-Marais. A two-kilometer route is planned, from Carré-de-Choux, the emblematic site of the Battle of Carentan, to Place de la République where it will arrive at 5 p.m. The forty-four runners, selected to carry the flame, will lead it to the war memorial. The people of Carentan are invited to run alongside them and accompany them in the procession.

Monday May 13, 2024, the Flame of Liberty will be at Sainte-Mère-Eglise before joining Cherbourg on Tuesday May 14, 2024.
