The Fontdouce nursing home transformed into a hospital, the Le Saint-Martial brasserie requisitioned for a day, a police station set up from scratch in the Transpalux studios in Saint-Yrieix… A new filming started this Friday in Angoulême.

“The Executioner’s Mom”, a 90-minute TV film for France Télévisions produced by Mon Voisin Productions, is an adaptation of the novel by David Lelait-Helo. Awarded the Claude-Chabrol prize in 2022, it features the mother of a pedophile priest who has just ended his life. For television, “a few liberties were taken at the end in order to give a little hope”, specifies Dominique Besnehard, the producer, present this Monday on the set.

Marie-Christine Barrault plays the main role. That of Gabrielle de Miremont, the executioner’s mother. A woman, a practicing Catholic, whose world is falling apart. “To play a role like that is extraordinary. There is drama, guilt, a crushed faith…” confides the actress, who received a religious education and says she “always has faith, even if I don’t go to church. »

She shares the poster with Laurent Stocker, with whom she “cries with laughter”, and Xavier Robic. And is delighted with this shoot with “a golden team”. This Monday, between two takes, she enjoyed giving some advice to the extras who shared her scene. “Transmission is what I like the most. »

To play a role like that is extraordinary.

Filming will continue at the Villebois market and cemetery on Wednesday and at the Château de la Mercerie on Thursday. Starting Friday and for a week, the team will settle in at Villa Claude, in Cognac, the home of Gabrielle de Miremont. Exterior scenes will also be produced in Confolens, a town to which Dominique Besnehard “immediately projected himself when reading the book. There is a Chabrol-like atmosphere there,” he judges. Return to Angoulême at the end of the month to shoot, among other places, in an apartment located near the alleys of New York.

Besnehard on the front page of Télérama

“Dominique Besnehard, investigating a troubled agent. » Télérama published this Monday, on its website, a long article dedicated to the co-founder of the Angoulême Francophone Film Festival. Journalists Mathilde Blottière and Hélène Marzolf paint an unvarnished portrait of “the most famous French agent”. His arrival in Paris at 19, his “gift for spotting faces”, his passion for Béatrice Dalle…
They also return to his recent positions, in favor of Gérard Depardieu in particular, and transcribe several testimonies, including those of two “actors or ex-actors”, relating “a touching and an non-consensual kiss”. The magazine specifies that a complaint for sexual assault and harassment was filed, in 2021, by James Chabert. It was dismissed.
“The article is respectful despite some insinuations without evidence to create buzz,” Dominique Besnehard commented on his Facebook page this Monday. He denies any sexual abuse and claims to have “never promised a role in exchange for sex”. The report can be found in full in the edition of Télérama to be published this Wednesday.
