Landes: the two occupants of a motorhome die in a head-on collision in Pouydesseaux

A 66-year-old man and a 62-year-old woman, from Lot-et-Garonne, lost their lives this Monday, May 6, in Pouydesseaux, on departmental road 933. The accident occurred in the afternoon , around 2:30 p.m. According to the first elements of the investigation, the campsite in which they were located was shifted to the left, for a reason still unknown, and collided with a heavy goods vehicle which was arriving opposite. The frontal impact completely destroyed the camper van. The driver of the truck, which was transporting cars, was slightly injured, according to firefighters.

The second victim found after more than 2h30 of intervention

Initially, emergency services reported the death only of the 66-year-old man, who was driving the camper van. The damage was so impressive on the camper van that the body of the second victim, the 62-year-old woman, was not found immediately. The emergency services even thought after lengthy searches that there was only one occupant in the camper van. But after almost three hours of intervention, when the camper van was turned around, around 5:30 p.m., the remains of the 62-year-old woman were found. The accident therefore caused two deaths, both occupants of the camper van.

An investigation was opened to try to understand why the campervan veered to the left.

Due to this accident, a diversion was put in place.
