Payerne broke the bank with his black accounts

While a presumed deficit of 1.58 million on 49.43 million charges was forecast at 2023 budget, Payerne has just completed the best financial year of the decade. “After additional allocations to the reserve funds for 4.1 million and almost a million additional depreciation, the municipality realizes a profit of 1.5 million on 57 million francs of charges”, presented, Monday, the trustee Eric Küng. Although expenses were generally well controlled, several exceptional revenues, amounting to 7 million francs, justify this result.

Payerne was thus able to provision amounts for future infrastructure projects planned for Rue du Bornalet, Rue du Temps and Rue des Grandes Rayes, but also for the renovation of the operations building. The city has further replenished its fund for energy and sustainable development. In the positive surprises, tax revenues are up by 1.5 million compared to the 2022 accounts and the 2023 budget, mainly due to catch-ups on individuals. This even if Payerne has lowered its rate in 2023.

Thanks to all these smiling figures, the municipal financing margin climbs to 7.2 million, while the budget set it at 2 million. The short-term debt amounts to 38 million francs, or 3,600 francs per inhabitant.
