(Ecofin Agency) – Aspen Global Innovators Group continues its objective of training a generation of defenders of human development in West Africa. This year, the organization, for a second time, is offering training scholarships to citizens of this sub-region.

Aspen Global Innovators Group, an organization housed at the Aspen Institute in Washington that supports social innovators, launched in collaboration with Niyel, an international advocacy, public affairs and campaigns company based in Senegal, the 2024 applications for the Innovators Program. Impact West Africa scholarships.

The program aims to create a generation of defenders of human development in West Africa. It provides fellows with skills to address common challenges that affect nearly half a billion people across the region’s 17 countries. Thus, each quarter for the duration of the program (one year), fellows will participate in a series of online training sessions. These sessions will cover a wide range of topics including, among others, community mobilization and engagement, coalition building, activism, narrative change, media and digital advocacy, as well as policy analysis and influences on decision-makers.

The program also includes in-person meetings and professional mentoring support. During these activities, fellows can maintain their full-time employment.

To apply, applicants must be citizens and residents of a West African country. They must be able to demonstrate a passion and commitment to advocacy that addresses one or more key issues affecting the West Africa region. There is no age limit.

All travel costs for in-person meetings, including airfare, local transportation, accommodation and food, will be covered by the scholarship.

The deadline for applications is June 14.
