The UDC MP and president of the management control committee reacts to the cacophony surrounding the break in a running water pipe. He will ask for explanations on the causes of the problem.
Last weekend, the break in a water pipe deprived thirteen municipalities of drinking water until Tuesday evening. Beyond the incident, the management of this crisis has been criticized. The Council of State itself recognized communication hiccups this Wednesday, however, considering that the communication of information was not its responsibility.
“It’s a subject that the members of the (management control, Editor’s note.) committee will love to tackle, especially in the series,” says MP Yves Nidegger. Between the commitments of loved ones, the loss of network and now the loss of voice, there is reason to wonder. He himself admits to having been left “in the most complete vagueness.”
“We have layers of regulations that overlap”
Asked about the reaction of the Council of State, the deputy sees in this message a desire to review the regulations. “I believe that we live in a world where we have lost common sense and that of responsibility first and foremost, which consists of reacting to give citizens what they need, rather than knowing whether we applies or not such standard of such regulation. I believe that today, we have layers of regulation that overlap and when something goes wrong, we talk about adding one more. I believe that we are creating a fairly inhumane political society in which it is a question of not making mistakes and observing the rules. In the end, no one does what they should do.”
The MP points out the total absence of communication on the risks. He will ask for explanations about the cause of the problem. For him, it is obvious that his committee will take up the matter: “GIS being a hot topic, it risks becoming heated.”
