It’s the end of the school holidays in Rouen (Seine-Maritime), Saturday May 4 and Sunday May 5, 2024. Want to go out a little before heading back to work? Here are some ideas for leisure activities in the Rouen area.

Buy a lost package

It is a new trend in commerce: the sale of lost packages. Throughout the weekend, a restaurateur from Rouen is organizing one on his premises. This sale is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Fresh Garden restaurant, 28, avenue Pasteur. “There will be nearly 500 kg of goods, parcels at 95% from Amazon. We don’t know their exact origin, but they come from Europe,” assures Joris, the manager.

Test a new gourmet address

Are you fond of cheese? It’s good news, a new brand is entirely dedicated to it: Bar Bickett. At 87, rue Beauvoisine, it’s more than a creamery-cheese shop that opens its doors, it’s a cheese bar. Emmanuel Fournier, a former computer scientist who has been a cheesemaker for eight years, is delighted to open this new place, after having already opened a shop in Noirmoutier.

Immerse yourself in the impressionist world

The 5e edition of the Normandy Impressionist festival, a movement whose 150th anniversary is being celebrated this year, continues until September. At the Museum of Fine Arts in Rouen, there is currently the Normandism exhibition, dedicated to British artist David Hockney. Living and working in Normandy since 2019, the artist presents around thirty paintings, mixing portrait and landscapes, accompanied by certain works from the museum’s collections.

Take a bike ride around Rouen

Certainly, the weather still looks mixed this weekend. But well covered, it will be entirely possible to get a breath of fresh air by bike, following one of these four routes offered by Rouen Tourisme.

Discover the depths of Rouen

Under the courthouse is one of the most astonishing monuments in Rouen: the Maison sublime. It is the oldest Jewish monument in France, discovered in 1976, which has been restored in recent years. But its function remains uncertain: was it a rabbinical school, a synagogue, a private residence? Visits take place on Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. (online reservation and ticketing).
