This is a first in France and is aimed at elected officials from Gard. The latter now benefit from a telephone helpline on OLD (legal clearance obligations).

The application of legal clearance obligations (OLD) can be complex. This is why this dedicated telephone helpline, for Gard elected officials, was created to support them“, explains the association of forestry communities which initiated this tool. Elected officials from Gard can call 09 66 91 83 79 free of charge from Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., or send an email to the cell address [email protected].

As a reminder, clearing is essential for the protection of property and people from the risk of forest fire. Its objective is to reduce fire outbreaks (90% of which are of human origin), to prevent the fire from reaching homes by creating a vertical and horizontal discontinuity of vegetation, to secure access for firefighters. during a fire…”The figures from the various feedback speak for themselves: 90% of homes with compliant clearing, threatened by a forest fire, suffered no damage“, says the association of forest communities in Occitanie.

Respond to concrete scenarios

Elected officials must apply the OLD on municipal properties but also ensure that residents comply with them on their plots. This concerns people who live inside or less than 200 meters from a forest, scrubland, or scrubland exposed to the risk of forest fire, defined by prefectural decree. But many questions, sometimes technical, arise when we get to the heart of the matter: regulations, practical cases, what should the citizen do if his neighbor does not respond, etc. The telephone line was set up to respond to these cases, thus helping town halls to plan OLDs over time.

At the other end of the line, a “forest fire” project manager from the association of forest communities (COFOR) will be assigned. If necessary, he or she can be redirected to a document or a resource contact depending on the problem raised. In addition to this telephone line, which is a first in France, other tools are made available to elected officials in Gard by COFOR: OLD kit, flyer for administrators, public meeting kit, etc.
