A car theft case that occurred in early 2023 in the town of Pont-Audemer, in Eure, finally resulted in a double arrest, Thursday May 2, 2024.

According to information provided by the gendarmerie, the theft of the Renault Mégane vehicle occurred between 5 a.m. and noon on February 2, 2023. Investigators were quickly faced with challenges, in particular due to the absence of geolocation technology to track the stolen vehicle.

However, after a series of careful investigations, an individual was identified as the user of the stolen vehicle, in Évreux. This breakthrough led to his arrest on Thursday May 2, 2024.

Same day arrest

During interrogation, the man admitted his participation in receiving the vehicle and named the perpetrator of the theft. The authorities apprehended the suspected thief the same day, in Caudebec-lès-Elbeuf.

The two suspects, aged 19 and 21 respectively, will soon be brought before the courts. The man suspected of having committed the theft will appear before the juvenile judge on June 26, 2024, while the alleged receiver was summoned to appear before the Évreux judicial court on October 8, 2024.
