Since Monday, April 29, motorists have been facing traffic disruptions at the Col du Chioula, in Ariège, due to works, for a period of three months. The project consists of reinforcing the roadway of the RD 613 in the municipalities of Ignaux, Prades and Vaychis. Explanations.

This is an area to avoid. Since Monday, April 29, residents of the villages and surrounding areas of Ignaux, Prades and Vaychis have been patient. Indeed, traffic is somewhat disrupted at Col de Chioula, in Ariège, due to roadworks. The Departmental Council is undertaking operations to strengthen the RD 613 road which crosses the pass communities.

Three months of work at Col du Chioula

The work began this Monday at Col de Chioula in Ariège and will last three months. During this time, the Department therefore has the main objective of improving the quality of the road by carrying out purges of the roadway, followed by renewal of the bituminous concrete wearing course.

Therefore, to minimize disruption for users and guarantee the safety of personnel working on the site, several measures have been put in place by the Department’s services:

  • The main works will be carried out during the day under alternating circulation,
  • The installation of the wearing course will be carried out at night, and will require the complete closure of the axis,
  • Parking in the work zone will be prohibited for the duration of the construction site.

Note that the project was entrusted to the Rescanière company, with a total budget of 773,978.40 euros including tax. Furthermore, the Ariège Departmental Council strongly invites motorists to consult the site www.inforoute09.fr to obtain the most up-to-date information on traffic conditions and alternative routes.
