In view of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games this summer, the Olympic flame will stop at Lion-d’Angers on Tuesday May 28, 2024, from 10 a.m. It is a moment awaited by athletes, but also more widely by fans of major international events.

The department of Maine-et-Loire and the town of Lion-d’Angers have applied to receive the Olympic flame. Tuesday May 28, the flame will cross the department on seven routes and as many stage points, including Le Lion-d’Angers.

It will arrive from the north of the city, accompanied by a convoy including security forces, advertising vehicles, official partners, authorities and, of course, the torchbearers. To wait, festive activities will be in place for the public, and 2,500 school children will participate in sporting activities.

Parking prohibited, regulated car parks…

Around 20,000 spectators are expected to follow the course. All this crowd, the entertainment, the convoy must benefit from flawless security. For this, access to the course and parking in the city will be strictly regulated.

From the day before, Monday May 27, from 10 a.m., and until 4:30 p.m. Tuesday May 28, parking will be prohibited in the streets and in the immediate vicinity of the flame route. Some city center car parks will be inaccessible, but others will be open, for example rue du Chatelier, at the former Eram factories.

For the day of May 28, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., it will be prohibited to drive vehicles on the streets used by the flame’s route, and to enter the city center. We can always exit via reserved and signposted routes. For everyone and throughout the day of May 28, significant disruptions are expected, and everyone will have to organize themselves accordingly.
