European Le Mans Series: Endurance at Le Castellet before the 24 hours of Le Mans

This weekend, from May 3 to 5, the Paul Ricard circuit hosts the 4 Hours of Le Castellet for the second round of the European Le Mans Series (ELMS). This is the last endurance meeting before the legendary 24 hours of Le Mans race on June 15 and 16.

On the program, 43 cars are planned for the start of this second round of the ELMS, divided between 22 LMP2, 10 LMP3 and LMGT3 prototypes for 128 drivers and 28 teams.

A notable event for all motorsport enthusiasts. In the LMP2 category, which brings together independent manufacturers including the French Oreca factory very close to the Castellet circuit in Signes, the current leader COOL Racing will be there after the victory of the trio Lorenzo Fluxa, Malthe Jakobsen and Ritomo Miyata in Barcelona during the first round of the ELMS.

And there will be spectacle in every direction. IN LMPS 2 Pro/Am, reigning champions François Perrodo and Matthieu Vaxivière will race at home following their victory at the 4 Hours of Barcelona in the No. 83 AF Corse Oreca-Gibson, alongside their Italian teammate Alessio Rovera. They will be chased away by the only French team on the field, Richard Mille by TDS proud of a second place in Spain, the trio Mathias Beche, Grégoire Saucy, Rodrigo Sales will remain unchanged at Paul Ricard.

In LMP3, Gillian Henrion, crowned last year in the Michelin Le Mans Cup, made her ELMS debut by winning in Barcelona with her compatriot, also champion, Julien Gerbi and the Portuguese Bernardo Pinheiro. They intend to secure their place as leaders in the general classification, with 6 points ahead of the reigning ELMS champions COOL Racing.

On the LMGT3 side, spectators will be able to follow the legendary brands of Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini and Aston Martin going all out all weekend before the big meeting at Le Mans. Five French people will be at the start of the race.

Testing and qualifying began this Friday at the Paul Ricard circuit and will continue tomorrow, Saturday May 4. The start of the race will be given on Sunday May 5 at 11:30 a.m.
