Washington – The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita, held talks on Tuesday in Washington with the American Secretary of State, Antony Blinken.
During this meeting, which is part of the ongoing political consultations between the two countries, Mr. Bourita and Mr. Blinken discussed the different aspects of the Moroccan-American strategic partnership, as well as various regional and international issues.
Morocco and the United States are celebrating the 20th anniversary of two key events in their relations: the Free Trade Agreement (FTA), the only one that the United States has concluded with an African country, and the “African” military exercise. In a statement to the press, shortly before these talks, which took place at the State Department, the head of American diplomacy stressed that the United States attaches “great importance” to the partnership with Morocco “in particular in favor of stability in the Middle East, as well as in Africa and North Africa”.
“Morocco is an essential partner of the United States, and I attach great importance to the relationship between our two countries,” said Mr. Blinken.
Highlighting the close partnership relations that unite the two countries, Mr. Bourita stressed that his talks with his American counterpart offer the opportunity to coordinate actions between the two countries within the framework of their strategic partnership.
“We are partners for peace. This partnership is all the more vital in a context marked by escalations in the Middle East and problems in the Sahel, Libya and Europe,” declared Mr. Bourita.
