This Friday, May 3, on the occasion of the reception of Amiens as part of the 36th day of Ligue 2, the Sporting Club de Bastia will indeed honor a special and commemorative jersey in connection with the Furiani tragedy. The tragedy dates back to May 5, 1992, the date of the Coupe de France semi-final between the Corsican club and Olympique de Marseille. But before kick-off, one of the stands at the Armand-Cesari stadium erected for the event collapsed and dragged down more than 3,000 people with its fall of around fifteen meters. Among them, 2,357 injured and 19 dead were counted. It is in their memory that Johnny Placide’s partners will wear a black tunic “to pay tribute to all the victims”, 32 years after the tragedy.
