After “Transat” in 2019 and “Cité(s) radieuse(s)” in 2021, “From purity to blur” will be the third exhibition that Christian Richer will present at the Corinne Le Monnier gallery from May 4 to June 11.

The Le Havre photographer practiced painting for a long time before abandoning it in favor of photographic art, hence undoubtedly the very pictorial and graphic rendering of his photos. “That’s what interested Corinne Le Monnier when she discovered my work. My gaze has been educated by painting, but remains the same. It’s just the medium that changes,” he confides.

Le Havre, his favorite subject

The title of the exhibition “From purity to blur” sums up what makes Christian Richer’s art photos special, “always swinging with very structured and minimalist compositions, and other methods which are more impressionist, where everything is more suggested; and awakens the imagination, or memories”, he describes. If his favorite playground remains Le Havre, its waterfront, its architecture, its outer port, he also lets you see Marseille, Paris or even New York, through the filter of his artistic gaze.
