Land in Senegal: shocked by the mismanagement orchestrated under Macky Sall, Diomaye Faye will crack down

During an unannounced visit to Thiès, precisely to Mbour 4 where a major land scandal is playing out, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye promised to bang his fist on the table. The people involved in this plot affair that occurred under the Macky Sall regime will have things to worry about.

Land in Senegal: “believe me, this will not happen”, Bassirou Diomaye Faye will put things in order

“We can’t let this go”, declared the President of the Republic after learning of the extent of the damage. Bassirou Diomaye Faye said he learned of the situation when he was in detention. Now president and in contact with reality, he realizes that people have sinned in the management of the plots made available to Thiès for housing its citizens.

I had an idea of what was going on here. In prison, I received information about people who were members of the old regime and others who were allocated dozens of hectares. At the same time, I heard the mayor of Thiès say that he was only given 120 plots of 200 square meters which he had to distribute to his fellow citizens. You have seen that there are people, politicians, businessmen, who were given 100, 30, 13, 50, even 300 hectares for one of them.

According to the president, some even tried to protect this irregularly acquired property. “When the change arrived on March 24, some rushed to request a ministerial decree to obtain a land title to supposedly secure a land right that is irregularly acquired”he said.

“How can a Thiésois citizen who is not well born than the others, who has done nothing exceptional, be granted 13 hectares while the city only has 3 hectares. We have listed it on several sites, believe me, it will not pass »insisted the head of state.

This is a strong signal sent to those who blame themselves for things in land management in Thiès. The President of the Republic will crack down with rigor. A posture totally in line with its logic of fighting against the mismanagement of public assets and corruption.

Furthermore, it should be noted that Thiès is not the only locality affected by this land scandal. Many other areas are affected. It is also within the framework of a general audit that construction work and transactions are suspended in the areas concerned.
