“I no longer want people to say that there are no places to park in Quimper. » This desire of Mayor Isabelle Assih reflects the policy and overall thinking that the municipality has been leading since 2021 in terms of parking. “This issue should no longer be a taboo. Motorists can go to Quimper with complete peace of mind to park.”

Reflections with traders and local residents

This year, the City will launch operations to optimize certain spaces and extend dynamic staking. “We’re going huntingconfirms Isabelle Assih, by making certain places visible and recreating others. » Recalling that all these reflections were conducted “with traders and local residents through an extra-municipal commission”.

Setting up dynamic staking

Dynamic staking allows users to know, as soon as they enter the city, the number of spaces available in the City’s car parks. This functionality has existed for several years in Quimper for the Lattre-de-Tassigny, Tour d’Auvergne, Cornouaille theater, Théodore-Le-Hars and Steir car parks.

The functionality is extended to the following car parks:

> The Resistance

> Rouget-de-l’Isle

> La Tourbie

> Locmaria 1

> La Providence – Icebox

> Michel-Gloaguen/Multisports hall

> Guardians’ Cross (park and ride)

> Eau-Blanche (future free parking for the large hall, city center relay with QUB City).

Around ten additional masts will be installed. The existing masts (around ten) will be renewed in order to integrate the new car parks. Next September, counting equipment will be installed in these car parks.

Expansion of parking lots

The Lattre-de-Tassigny and Michel-Gloaguen car parks (sports hall) will be expanded.

Some benchmarks

> 6,500: the number of free and paid parking spaces in Quimper, cars and motorized two-wheelers.

> 90: the number of fewer places with the development of the platforms and the station.

> 700: the number of free seats, on average and continuously, in Quimper (notably Théâtre de Cornouaille and Providence).

> 90: as a percentage the parking occupancy rate on the platforms.
