More than a hundred greyhounds from the four corners of France will set foot on the beautiful Montalban track and try to win their ticket for the finals which will take place on Saturday May 4 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. for the large breeds (40 registered: Greyhounds, Borzois, Azawakhs, Galgos, Salukis, Sloughis, Magyar Agar, Afghans, Irish Wolfhound) and Sunday May 5 from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. for small breeds (70 registered: Whippets and Small Italian Greyhounds). Indeed, under the aegis of the Central Canine Society, this French championship is the culmination of the events accomplished over the last twelve months by greyhounds and will reward the best of them in each category.

What a pleasure, then, in this Olympic year where the promotion of physical activity is designated as a national cause, to see in Montauban these canine competitors at the top of their form thanks to all the sporting work carried out during a year with their owner. As Frédéric Marlière, president of the Club Occitan du Lévrier Montalbanais (COLM), points out, “no monetary gain is to be gained for their owner, just a few small souvenir gifts because in France it is indeed an amateur and voluntary environment. , competing for the pleasure and well-being of these extraordinary athletes.”

The Montauban club will be represented by around fifteen greyhounds who managed to be selected. “We will of course encourage them and cross our fingers that they qualify for the final stages of this championship,” the president hopes. And to specify that “the COLM, made up of volunteers, was a candidate and chosen by the authorities for the organization of this major meeting, a lot of work has been done during these last months in order to offer optimal racing conditions for greyhounds, the welcome of their owners as well as the public We will have an excellent weekend in joy and good humor and we will be delighted to welcome you to introduce you to our sport in its own right. extraordinary athletes, intelligent, fast, but above all our daily 4-legged companions.
