Dakar, 1is Oct (APS) – The president of the National Audiovisual Regulatory Council (CNRA), Babacar Diagne, confirmed his departure from the leadership of this body, at the end of his six-year mandate.

In a press release sent to APS, Mr. Diagne said he thanked the Head of State and the government of Senegal for “having been willing to give a favorable response” to his request to leave the presidency of the body of media regulation.

”My mandate as president of the CNRA came to an end during this month of September 2024,” said Babacar Diagne, recalling that the duration of the mandate of the members of the regulatory body, which is six years , is neither renewable nor revocable.

”As the six-year mandate expired on September 30, I insisted on strict compliance with the duration. I therefore requested and obtained the understanding and agreement of the authority, which granted me not to go beyond the legal duration of my functions as president of the CNRA,” he said. declared.

Babacar Diagne, a journalist by training, graduated from the École supérieure de journalism in (), was general director of RTS.

He was Senegal’s ambassador to the Gambia and the United States of America, before being appointed president of the CNRA.
