Clermont-Paris connection: a new letter to the President of the Republic

Last January, the three collectives Clermont-Paris train users, Transportation in Haut-Allier And We travelers of the Massif Central sent a letter to the President of the Republic requesting a meeting about the State’s commitment to the development of the line linking Clermont to Paris, once the revitalization has come to an end. Even with the current program to modernize the line’s infrastructure, the need to shorten travel times remains unresolved, including with new and reliable equipment. The Clermont-Paris connection sees the circulation of TETs, Territorial Balance Train, it is up to the State to show a real desire to invest to make things happen in order to provide Auvergne with a connection worthy of this name and essential to the attractiveness of the territory. If the SNCF has launched an action plan, strongly recommended by Christophe Béchu, the Minister of Territorial Cohesion, Emmanuel Macron’s cabinet has neither sent a response nor made a meeting proposal to the representatives of the three collectives .

A new letter sent to the Élysée

This “dead letter” irritates user representatives, especially since the initial schedule of the revitalization plan has just been turned upside down, once again, with the announced delay in the delivery of the Oxygène trains. The problem of reliability of the Clermont-Paris link with equipment at the end of its life but which will have to circulate for another year and a half, worries everyone. But it is also a question of looking after 2027, because even with the new trains, the journey time will still be too long. So that the Clermont metropolis and Auvergne can be competitive, particularly against the Lyon metropolitan area, reducing the travel time to 2h30 seems obvious. This is what the three collectives want to talk about with the president who is the only one who can give the green light to a real project to develop the connection.
A new letter has just been sent to the Élysée, with the hope that citizen mobilization will play its role. Remember that 12,275 people signed the online petition on change.org for a reduction in travel time to 2h30.
