The investigation continues to determine the circumstances of the tragic accident which occurred at Coteau, on the night of May 1st. The first hearings of the two young people arrested made it possible to provide some answers.

Almost immediately after the accident, two individuals aged 19 and 20, the driver and front passenger of the Audi RS3, were arrested by the Anti-Crime Brigade (BAC) of Roanne, who had spotted the vehicle traveling at very high speed. between Roanne and Le Coteau. “The latter had tried to leave the scene of the accident”, had already confirmed the Roanne Prosecutor’s Office.

Both denied having been the driver of the vehicle at the time of the accident.

After a short stay in the hospital center because they were slightly injured, the two men were placed in police custody in the premises of the Roanne police station. During their hearings, “both contested having been the driver of the vehicle at the time of the accident, while presenting discrepancies in their versions”, specifies the Prosecutor’s Office, this Thursday, May 2 in the evening.

However, according to the first elements of the investigation, it was noted on the video surveillance images of the town that a man, presenting distinctive signs corresponding to one of the two suspects, was the driver during the at night and during the accident. The latter “does not hold a driving license and presents a saliva analysis revealing the consumption of narcotics”, announces the Prosecutor’s Office.

Presented this Friday before the Justice

A judicial investigation will be opened, this Friday, May 3, before the investigating judge of the Roanne judicial court, under the following four qualifications: involuntary homicide aggravated by at least two circumstances, involuntary injuries aggravated by at least two circumstances, lack of control and failure to assist a person in danger.
