Dakar, September 30 (APS) – Elimane Diouf was re-elected on Sunday as secretary general of the Confederation of Autonomous Trade Unions of Senegal (CSA), APS learned from the said union organization.

Elected for the first time in 2016, Mr. Diouf was reappointed following the fourth national congress of the CSA, which took place this weekend in Dakar, indicates a press release received at APS.

This congress had the theme: “The CSA facing the issues and challenges of revitalizing the trade union movement”.

The member unions of the said confederation are committed ”to instilling a new dynamic to remedy the flagging of the union movement”.

”It’s clear that we need a new dynamic,” believes the confederation, which has taken note of the commitments of the new authorities.

The CSA welcomed the exploitation of oil and natural gas deposits, ”substantial resources for the endogenous development of the country”, according to it.

However, she drew attention to the threats weighing on work with the suspension of several jobs as well as the renegotiation of contracts which pose “serious risks to employment”.

The Confederation of Autonomous Trade Unions of Senegal reports that the organizations that make it up increased from 44 to 64, between 2016 and 2024.
