Garbage and ripped trash bags litter several sections of Clark Street, in the Plateau-Mont-Royal borough, a situation that forced the of to launch a call for good citizenship.

If it was a collection day on Thursday, it would seem that this garbage on the sidewalks would be a recurring problem.

“I make a lot of complaints, but the City does nothing,” said a citizen in the area between Rachel Street and Duluth Avenue.

For its part, the City of Montreal called for good citizenship and spoke with student associations since this situation is due, among other things, to the period of student moves.

“We urge everyone to respect the collection regulations. Now, we understand that it is a student move in the area, the situation is exacerbated and we are taking major measures to restore a living environment as clean as possible,” reacted Philippe Sabourin, spokesperson for the City.

Dump trucks will pass through the area once a day, as will two teams to maintain cleanliness.

Remember that fines for improper garbage sorting can range from $200 to $2000.
