Firm prison required against the former “popess of influencers” for bankruptcy and money laundering

The prosecutor’s office requested, this Monday, 18 months in prison, including six prison sentences under an electronic bracelet, against Magali Berdah, suspected of bankruptcy and money laundering when she was an insurance broker, around ten years before she became the “popess of influencers”.

Magali Berdah faces justice again. The former influencer agent appeared this Monday, September 30 before the Nice criminal court (Alpes-Maritimes) for acts of bankruptcy and money laundering, which occurred when she was an insurance broker.

This figure from the world of social networks, already presented as a victim in several cyberharassment proceedings involving in particular the rapper Booba, was this time on the dock, alongside three former colleagues.

At the end of the hearing, the prosecution requested 18 months in prison, including six months under an electronic bracelet against the former “popess of influencers”.

According to the Nice public prosecutor’s office, the procedure calls into question his management of the insurance brokerage company BA&CO, between January 30, 2014 and July 31, 2015, the day after the judicial liquidation of the latter, with liabilities estimated at nearly 2.5 million euros.

During an interview with local daily Nice Matin published Friday September 27, she assured that she was only a “simple employee” of the company and that she had gained nothing from the bankruptcy.

“She appears to be the central character of this society. She denies it but all the evidence converges,” insisted the prosecutor, Sylvie Maillard, during the hearing on Monday, September 20, also requesting a definitive ban on managing a company.

Yet another trial

It was after this first business that Magali Berdah created the Shauna Events agency in 2017, specializing in connecting social media personalities and brands, which earned her the nickname “the popess of influencers”.

She was quickly targeted by rapper Booba in his crusade against “influvoleurs”. The artist had accused her of deceptive commercial practices, an accusation to which she responded by filing a complaint.

The investigation launched against her was dismissed last March. Booba was indicted for aggravated online moral harassment.

In addition, 28 Internet users were also sentenced in March, following a trial which revealed the virulence of the tens of thousands of messages she received: “Dirty female dog”, “scammer”, “we will come t ‘cut your throat at home’, ‘you deserve to be decapitated and stoned’ or even ‘let your daughter die’.
