From Friday May 3 to Wednesday May 29, 2024, visual artist Keith Hutchinson exhibits his works at the Hamon gallery in Le Havre. Visitors will discover the 18 compositions that the Le Havre artist has created in recent months. Very inspired by the vintage universe of the golden age of American cinema, spaghetti westerns, or American advertisements from the 60s and 70s, Hutchinson creates assemblages whose starting point is always a poster.

Collages, wood and recycled metal

“First of all, it’s the main subject of the poster that inspires me. I have to like the character, through his expression, his attitude. From there I improvise around the theme that emerges. I also like lettering and keeping words that fit the theme. I am also very attached to the material that I will work with: for example, for a western atmosphere, I will use wood instead. he explains. By tearing up the posters, lacerating them, adding collages from recovered wood and metal, everything is restructured and transformed into unique and colorful works, in random formats.

Hutchinson exhibition, from May 3 to 29, 2024 at the Hamon gallery, place de l’Hôtel-de-Ville, Le Havre. Open Tuesday to Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Artist signing session on Monday, May 20 from 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.
