In possession of ammunition and drugs, he jumps into the Rhône to escape the police

A 29-year-old man threw himself into the Rhône in Villeurbanne on Monday April 29 to escape a police check. He was in possession of firearm cartridges and cannabis resin.

This is a situation that could have ended very badly. This Monday, April 29, it was around 6 p.m. when a police crew approached a group of three people positioned in a deal point known to the police, near rue du canal in Villeurbanne.

At the sight of the police, one of the three individuals then fled, throwing himself into the Rhône, to avoid control. Quickly carried away by the very strong current, the suspect finally managed to cling to a branch to finally reach the bank. He was then arrested by the police and then taken care of by the firefighters.

Placed in police custody upon leaving the emergency room

During his search, the police found four firearm cartridges as well as a small quantity of cannabis resin. Taken to hospital for examinations, the 29-year-old man, known very unfavorably to the police, was then placed in police custody upon leaving the emergency room.

Referred to the Lyon public prosecutor’s office on May 1, he was placed under judicial supervision pending his judgment.

A case reminiscent of that of a man, last weekend, who tried to escape a check by throwing himself into the Saône in the 4th arrondissement of Lyon.
