The SACD at the 77th Cannes Film Festival

A permanent commitment to authors

For this 77th edition, the SACD supports filmmakers and cinema by relying on partnerships with the Cannes Festival, the Fortnight, the Critics’ Week, the ACID but also the CNC as well as various programs that it actively supports. The SACD supports authors who are today confronted with an audiovisual environment forcing them to reinvent themselves.

During the festival, the SACD presents its two traditional prizes in the Cannes selections of La Quinzaine des filmmakers and La Semaine de la Critiquepropose A debate with the CNC entitled “Artificial intelligence and creation: between revolution and regulation”and organizes meetings dedicated to filmmakers and screenwriters in collaboration with ACID.

The SACD will also be present for authors on its stand at the Palais des Festivals (n° 19.04 on level -1) from May 14 to 25.

The SACD Filmmakers Meetings with the ACID

Three meetings intended for all filmmakers and screenwriters, as well as professionals from the world of cinema, will be organized again in collaboration with the ACID and will be held at the ACID Cinematographers’ Café. They will be led by Pascal Rogardgeneral director of the SACD.

SACD partner of all Cannes selections

Representative of all authors, screenwriters, directors, the SACD supports and encourages all cinema writing. She is notably at the origin of the creation, by the festival, of the Screenplay Prize.

As every year, thanks to its cultural action financed by private copying, the SACD also supports all the selections in Cannes, the Filmmakers’ Fortnight, the Critics’ Week and the ACID selection, in order to highlight and reward the essential role of authors in the creation of films.

During the Festival, the SACD cinema commission awards two awards:

  • SACD Price handed over to a feature film Critics’ Week (Wednesday May 22)
  • The Authors’ Favorite awarded to a French-speaking feature film The Filmmakers’ Fortnight (Thursday May 23)

In order to support cinema authors and forge a link with the public, the SACD supports the Fortnight in Actions.

Reestablishing the link between authors and an audience far removed from culture is the objective of the support provided by the SACD to La Quinzaine en actions. The SACD is associated with this system of access to Culture and image education initiated by La Quinzaine des filmmakers, by supporting the authors who come to supervise the sharing of the films selected and screened, and involve the teams in debates. and collective workshops to encourage exchanges and meetings, transmit knowledge, encourage speech and reflection around cinema.
