On Monday April 22, 2024, the morning was busy for eleven children from Saint-Pierre-des-Fleurs (Eure). The Les P’tites Mains de Saint-Pierre association invited children aged 8 to 12 to a sewing morning which allowed them to make a pinprick. Something to please their mother for Mother’s Day which is approaching.

Supervised very closely by six women members of the association, the children cut out the pattern, then the fabric, before launching into stitching the work by machine. “Most children, girls or boys, have never used a sewing machine. However, with the attentive help of the association’s seamstresses, they worked very well! » exclaims Corinne Carpentier, president and host.

An association now independent

The P’tites Mains de Saint-Pierre have taken on their autonomy and became independent of the Club of Hope to which they were attached. “Our specificities and our activity justify our takeoff,” explains the president.

The association meets every Monday morning, during the school term, and organizes a workshop for children on the first Monday of the holidays, like today. Around ten seamstresses create works together personal items or items that will be put up for sale, such as kits or handbags. Participation in the Pink October event as well as the Christmas market is planned.

Noon arrives and all the pin sticks, in various colors, are ready. All that will remain is to surround them with a pretty package to offer them to mothers on May 26. There is no doubt that the work of the children will be appreciated.

The association launches an appeal to recover fabric in good conditionjeans or other, which will be valuable for future achievements.
