It is the second time in the space of seven months this situation occurred. Once again, property belonging to Léopold Sédar Senghor will not be sold at the Caen () auction.
The purchased the work book collection of the former head of state, autographed by well-known personalities such as Prévert.

A sale that will not take place

The session initially scheduled for Tuesday April 16, 2024 was not held, and will therefore not be postponed. For now, the amount of the transaction between Caen Enchères and the State of Senegal is not yet known: “We will reveal the price later” explains Solène Lainé, sales manager.

A unique situation

In October 2023, pieces, jewelry and leather goods by Léopold Sédar Senghor were to be put on sale in Caen. Senegal had 28 lots withdrawn from sale to begin negotiations for a purchase. So rebel this time.
A situation which does not help Caen Enchères: “We had paid for the advertisements about this event”. However, this situation remains unique and is unlikely to recur in the future.
