The suspect was arrested by police officers from the anti-crime brigade at the Perpignan police station on Sunday after a 16-year-old girl filed a complaint, denouncing the sexual assault of which she was allegedly the victim the previous night in the city center.

The 33-year-old man who was arrested for the rape of a 16-year-old girl on the night of Saturday April 27 to Sunday April 28 in the city center of Perpignan was brought to the Perpignan courthouse at resulting from his hearing.

According to initial information, on Saturday, the young girl participated in a sleepover between high school girls, all minors, at the home of one of them. A party, against a backdrop of alcohol consumption, which she left around 3 a.m., leaving on foot in the Saint-Mathieu district. This is where she would have been approached by the respondent. The unfortunate woman was allegedly forced to have sex in the street before managing to escape and join her friends. Which, panicked by his condition, had alerted the police. The investigations then made it possible to quickly identify a suspect who had been intercepted early Sunday afternoon. Alcoholic, the thirty-year-old was placed in sobering up then in police custody.

The accused was finally “indicted for rape”, confirms the Perpignan public prosecutor Jean-David Cavaillé. Then he was released “under judicial supervision” by the judge of freedoms and detention despite the requisitions of the prosecution which had requested his incarceration.
