The Aixe-sur-Vienne diversion opens to traffic this Thursday, May 2, 2024, at 7 p.m. This new section of almost two kilometers connects the RD 2000 to the RD 20 and helps ease traffic congestion in the town center of the town. A project financed to the tune of six million euros by the Haute-Vienne departmental council.
After more than a year of work, the Aixe-sur-Vienne diversion opens to traffic on Thursday May 2 at 7 p.m. This 1900 meter long section connects two departmental roads:
- the RD 2000 via the La Pouge roundabout
- the RD 20 which connects Saint-Martin le Vieux, Les Cars and Flavignac
The main objective of this project is to relieve congestion in the city center of Aixe which is “crossed every day by 5,000 vehicles coming from the RD 20, including around 7% heavy goods vehicles“, according to the Haute-Vienne departmental council which is carrying out the work at a cost of 6 million euros.

Thursday May 2, before opening to traffic at 7 p.m., the departmental council offers the general public the opportunity to discover the development site for this new road link. Between 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m., pedestrians or users of rollerblades, scooters and bicycles will be welcome to discover this axis.
