Major clean-up operation this Thursday Trembaly-en- after the storms of the night. Particularly violent storms in this town of Seine-Saint-Denis where hailstones the size of ping-pong balls fell, leaving a white carpet on the road. This Thursday morning, roads were flooded and the sidewalks, covered in mud, were almost impassable, noted a journalist from France Bleu on site.

“In front of my gate, there was a layer of twenty centimeters of hailstones, it looked like a pile of rubble, it was impressive”, Marc observed in the early morning. Boots on his feet and shovel in hand, this resident works to clear the way so that his daughter can get her car out. In his street, which is also that of the school, the road was flooded this Thursday morning.

“The night was quite rough”says this resident. “It started with large hailstones at 9 p.m., then the continued without interruption until midnight or 1 a.m..” These heavy rains caused flooding. “The water seeped through the front door of the bar and through that of the restaurant, it’s unheard of” testifies Kelian, who works at Vieux Pays, a bar-restaurant. “There is damage in the restaurant and in the reserve. We are going to spend the day clearing up.”

There was also damage to individuals like José, who saw his car hit by another vehicle swept away by the water. “I’ve never seen this in the almost 50 years I’ve lived here, there’s still hail in the yard this morning”. A little further on, the children’s park is covered in mud. “The biggest one has been cleaned” François Asensi, the mayor of Tremblay-en-France, told France Bleu Paris. Around twenty homes were affected by flooding, he said. The city will request classification as a natural disaster.
