While they intervened at the home of a suspect, as part of a shoplifting case, the gendarmes from Argelès-Sur-Mer And of Elne (Pyrénées-Orientales) scored a double blow. In addition to the stolen loot, the soldiers got their hands on 1.2 kg of cocaine and 850 grams of cannabis.
Two kilos of drugs at the suspect’s home
The investigation began in the coastal town when the Argelès-Sur-Mer gendarmerie was alerted following a shoplifting incident. The police’s investigations begin and quickly focus on an individual “well known” to the police. With the support of the Elne gendarmerie, a search was carried out at the suspect’s home.
Once there, the stolen loot is found… but that’s not all. Thanks to the support of the Cynophile brigade of Perpignan, the gendarmes discovered 1.2 kg of cocaine and 850 grams of cannabis. The drugs were hidden at the suspect’s home.
20 months in prison
Presented before the courts following investigations by the gendarmes, the accused received 20 months in prison accompanied by various prohibitions and confiscations. The suspect’s partner also appeared in court.
The latter received a suspended prison sentence of 24 months, without forgetting measures of prohibition and confiscation. The Pyrénées-Orientales gendarmerie is pleased to have completed this “very good deal”.
