The 1/16 finals of the Normandy Cup took place on Wednesday May 1, 2024, with varying fortunes for the clubs of the agglomeration of Caen (Calvados). Four of them were eliminated, but three others continue the adventure. It is Mondeville, Ouistreham and Troarn.
Heavy scores and penalties
End of the adventure for Orne Valley, the little thumb, severely beaten by the Municipalists of Le Havre (0-8). A cruel end but the adventure was beautiful with two R3 teams in the hunt of Mickael Roullier and his men. Same observation for Thaon-Bretteville heavily beaten in Lisieux (7-1) but there is still a great story to write in the championship with a title that extends its arms to Florian Royer’s players.
For Verson and the Green Way, the elimination was confirmed during the penalty shootout. “There are not too many regrets,” reacted Samuel Lopez, the president of AS Verson. It was typically a cup match on a small rural ground with a big crowd. Bravo to Selle la Forge! »
Ousmane N’Diaye (Chemin Vert) was more upset by his team’s result.
We dominated the game a lot but we didn’t manage to score. Neubourg does not have a single opportunity. Penalties are random. It’s a shame, because there was plenty of room to pass.
Note that the ASLCV was deprived of its strategist, Mohamed Daoudi.
The results
Orne Valley (D2) – Le Havre Municipal (R2): 0-8
Colleville Ouistreham (R3) – Bayeux (R1): 2-1
Selle la Forge (R2) – Verson (R1): 3-3 (5-4 TAB)
CA Lisieux (R2) – Thaon Bretteville (R3): 7-1
Boucle de Seine (D2) – Mondeville (R2): 0-1
Chemin Vert Caen (D1) – Le Neubourg (R3): 0-0 (4-5 TAB)
PL Octeville (D1) – Troarn (D1): 0-3
Four eliminated but three qualified…
Troarn traveling in the outskirts of Cherbourg did not fare well against PL Octeville, a team of the same level. 3-0 is a clean and flawless score which proves that the Troarnais always find the necessary resources when it comes to competing in a cup round.
The players of Mondeville were warned, their opponent, Boucles de Seine, who plays in D2 is well worth the higher level. Mathieu Chevreau noticed this and it was with relief that he spoke of his team’s qualification (1-0): “We didn’t have a great match against a great team who gave us a hard time . We scored at the half-hour mark through Cyrille Koudougnon and then, we secured but we ensured the bare minimum. »
Finally, Colleville Ouistreham brilliantly completed the results of the Caen la Mer teams by stopping Bayeux, a team which plays two divisions above.
