Desclaude de Saintes high school receives a visit from regional advisor Karine Desroses

Thursday April 25, as part of a territorial employment-training conference in Charente-Maritime, Karine Desroses, vice-president of the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region in charge of professional training, apprenticeship and employment visited the Georges Desclaude high school in Saintes, part of the Agrocampus of Saintonge which brings together 3 high schools, 1 CFA, 1 CFPPA (vocational training and agricultural promotion center) and 3 agricultural operations.

We will come back to this in our agriculture file, to appear in our summer magazine, but training in agricultural and landscaping professions is important in the region. Near Saintes, the Desclaude high school provides training for professions in agriculture, horticulture, landscaping and water too, both in initial and continuing education.

For the regional elected official, it was the first visit to this is important to take the pulse and improve our systems. They work, even if they are small promotions. With the 1st base Public Service Accreditation for example, the objective is to put people who were far removed from it back into the employment loop. There are problems of illiteracy, electronics and mobility. All schemes are welcome and I am in favor of the Territory zero long-term unemployed scheme. I regret that the Regions have lost learning skills because we have lost an overall vision of action.

My goal is to be on the field as often as possible. Since I became vice-president, I have been in contact with professionals. Our regional employment-training plan has been built but as we can see, we always need to adjust. We have started an experiment to combine RSA and remuneration during training [1] . I am going to see the department presidents so that we can generalize this action across the 12 departments in the region.“

The Saintonge agrocampus welcomes 1,000 learners in various sectors: agriculture, horticulture, market gardening, water, viticulture, landscaping, commerce.

Several levels of training are offered: initial training in high school, apprenticeship, continuing training… from 3rd grade to BTS.

On May 24 and 25, Desclaude high school is organizing its AGRO’ FEST, an event with open days not to be missed!
