Broye fribourgeoise: Despite his mentor, Gletterens refused the budget

Despite his mentor, Gletterens refused the budget

Published: 05/01/2024, 5:12 p.m.

After having refused several times an increase in the tax rate during 2023 leading the prefect to appoint a mentor to help with municipal management, Gletterens did not give a better reception to the 2024 budget on Tuesday. The 2023 budget had been refused four times before being forcefully adopted by the Council of State, as was the tax increase. With 49 yes, 69 no and 12 abstentions, the 2024 budget recorded its second refusal, after that of the municipal assembly, open to all citizens, last December.

The specter of being placed under supervision is therefore approaching for the Broyarde commune, being the subject of an administrative investigation due to these disagreements between the Executive and the legislature. Once the report is in hand, the prefect will take “decisions in order to maintain the public interest and ensure the good administration of the Commune,” he communicated on . Out of total expenses of 5.95 million francs, the budget anticipated a deficit of 430,000 francs.
