In the morning, the Gris-Nez Regional Operational Surveillance and Rescue Center (CROSS) was “informed by the Dieppe semaphore that a migrant boat is off the coast of Dieppe”.

The Cross initially hired an SNSM speedboat, operating in the area, to “check the situation of the boat”, according to the press release.

The SNSM launch is then relieved by the coastal maritime surveillance launch Yser of the maritime gendarmerie.

“The Yser rescued the boat, in difficulty, in the afternoon. The crew recovered 66 shipwreck victims, including women and children,” specifies the maritime prefecture.

The castaways were then “deposited at the port of Dieppe where they are taken care of by the land rescue services and the border police”.

According to the prefecture of Seine-Maritime, “the migrants were taken care of by a complete system, ensuring reception by a system of the SDIS of Seine-Maritime and approved civil security associations”.

Then they were transported “to a gymnasium made available by the city of Dieppe, with the support of means of transport from the Dieppe Maritime agglomeration community”.

“In parallel with this support, State services are examining the administrative situations of migrants on a case-by-case basis, in close collaboration with the judicial authority. Three people have already been arrested by the national police and placed in police custody, suspected of being smugglers”, indicates the prefecture in a press release.
