A police operation took place Wednesday evening in Dolbeau-Mistassini, causing the closure of traffic in both directions on Route 169 between Avenue de l’Église and Boulevard Saint-Michel, according to Québec 511.

Numerous messages posted on social networks on Wednesday mentioned gunshots and the presence of several emergency vehicles on site.

The Sûreté du Québec refused to give further details on the intervention and indicates that an investigation has been opened at the Bureau of Independent Investigations (BEI).

THE BEI has the mission to shed light on the facts surrounding a police intervention. This body investigates all cases where a person other than a police officer on duty dies, suffers a serious injury or is injured by a firearm used by a police officer during a police intervention or during his or her detention by a police force. .
