May 1st gloomy for unions in Corsica

The gloom of the Corsican sky this Wednesday went hand in hand with that of the social context for the traditional May 1 parade. In Bastia, around 200 people marched under the colors of the CGT, FO, UNSA, but also political movements such as the Communist Party, A Manca, A Reta and even the young Maoists.

In a year without much mobilization, the demands have once again become more traditional, such as rising wages and greater vigilance than ever in the face of employers and the government.

While the procession included few young people, one of the questions for the future will be that of the mobilization of young people, who sometimes seem to be turning away from trade unionism.

We listen to Charles Casabianca, for the CGT.
