The A69 motorway construction site, at its base in Puylaurens, has welcomed a somewhat unusual audience in recent days. These are the students from the Germaine Tillion high school in Castelnaudary, from the BTS Public Works sector, who came to visit different points of the construction site, between Castres and Cuq-Toulza.

Jean-Marc Castel is one of the teachers: “it’s interesting, it allows us to study the works of a large-scale construction site. In class, the students are less afraid of construction sites. They were notably able to see the machines earthworks in real life.”

Mohammed Mustafa, 19, one of these students, was able to discover these machines, the “scrapers”, as well as the upper bridges under construction. “It’s impressive. In class, we only see this on the computer. We see the number of people and machines on this type of site!”

Baptiste and Matéo, two students who are in apprenticeship, accustomed to more modest projects, “discovered this project on a different scale. The equipment and machines are impressive.”

“We will come back in a few months,” assures their teacher, “to see how the construction site is progressing.” Nathan, a method engineer in training for Atosca, was satisfied with this visit which he accompanied, a first. “It’s interesting to show students in this sector of activity how a large project of this type is managed. Especially since they may be required to do internships here.”
