A thousand people in the streets of Clermont-Ferrand for the traditional May 1 demonstration

The traditional May 1st day brought together, under incessant rain, around 950 people in Clermont-Ferrand this Wednesday. If the demonstration remains that of the defense of social and union rights, it resonated, this year, with an international dimension concerning the exhortation for peace in the world.

Around 950 to 1,000 demonstrators

braved the rainy weather on Wednesday May 1 in Clermont-Ferrand, the traditional International Workers’ Day. An inter-union made up in particular of the CGT, the CFDT, FSU, Solidaire and the Unsa opened the procession, around 10:45 a.m. on Place Delille before reaching Place de Jaude where the various protests took place in peace. of words.

The incessant rain did not dampen the motivation of the demonstrators because the demands of employees (large companies in the region were represented) and unions concerning the world of work were numerous, surrounded, this year, by an international political dimension. In the procession, several Palestinian flags flew.

Some pro-Palestinian activists, anti-fascist activists, and also a group of young undocumented minors were also part of the demonstration.

If this day remains that of the defense of social and trade union rights, it also resonated with a more serious dimension concerning the exhortation for peace in the world, particularly in Palestine and Ukraine.
