The month of May is the lovely month of Europe in Clermont-Ferrand and in the department

The objective is to introduce people to the EU and bring together European citizens during festive events.

The EUROPE DIRECT Clermont Puy-de-Dôme Center team and its partners offer activities, exhibitions, meetings, screenings and other events to highlight the EU, its history, European citizenship, and its 27 countries.

LMay 9 is Europe Day! This is the anniversary date of the “Schuman Declaration” of May 9, 1950, which is the birth certificate of the European Union.

In France, the whole month of May is placed under the sign of Europe, thanks to the “Joli Mois de l’Europe”, coordinated here by the EUROPE DIRECT Clermont Puy-de-Dôme Center, with numerous partners.

In this year of selection for the European Capital of Culture 2028, where Clermont-Ferrand Massif Central arrives in the final square, it is essential to further prove the European identity of our territory and to make Europe Live here.

This year, celebrate with the City and the European Union throughout the month of May!

It starts with Europe Day, on May 2 at Place de la Victoire in Clermont-Ferrand!

The EUROPE DIRECT Clermont Puy-de-Dôme Center team and its numerous partners (associative and institutional) offer activities, exhibitions, meetings, screenings, debates and many other events which highlight the EU, its history, the European citizenship, the 27 countries that make it up, and also its actions (mobility, fight against climate change, solidarity with Ukraine, etc.).

The objective is to introduce people to the EU, to bring together European citizens during festive, cultural, informative and general public events, throughout the territory.

All these actions are free, some require registration. You will definitely find an activity for you, near you!

This year the institutions are increasing their energy to disseminate the Values ​​of the EU because we are preparing to Vote for the MEPs who will represent us in the European Parliament!

MEPs have been elected by direct universal suffrage every 5 years since 1979. The European Parliament is the only European institution directly chosen by EU citizens.

May 2: Europe Express from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. for middle and high schools in Clermont-Ferrand (registration required) followed by the Europe Day on Place de la Victoire from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. (games, music, improv theater, tastings…).

May 3: “Europe Through Youth” event in Cournon-d’Auvergne.

May 7: citizenship and European elections workshop at the Unis-Cité center in Clermont-Ferrand.

May 15: International Mobility forum at the Anatole France Center in Clermont-Ferrand.

May 16: European events at the Jean Rostand school in Riom.

May 17 to 20: “The Arts on a Walk” with Michal Trpák at Corum Saint-Jean in Clermont-Ferrand.

May 21: screening of the documentary on Ukraine “Marioupol, hope is not lost” at 6:30 p.m. at the Espace Conchon in Clermont-Ferrand, followed by a debate.

May 21 – June 14: “Ireland in Europe”, exhibition on the gates of the Lecoq Garden loaned by the Consulate General of Ireland in Lyon.

May 22: citizenship and European elections workshop at the RVL in Riom, followed by a film debate. And textile fresco workshop at the Lycée d’Ennezat, hosted by the Flax associative café.

May 23: “Europe of solutions”: meeting with the European Bank. investment and the Representation of the European Commission in France around projects financed by European funds in Clermont-Ferrand.
