For May 1, Labor Day, trade union organizations hope to mobilize on the themes of Europe or social dialogue. Last year, nearly two million people took to the streets. The demonstrations reached records against the backdrop of pension reform.

Whether they march or not, the 1st May remains a symbolic date for the Limougeauds met in the streets by our reporting team: “We have to make demands. We are still in a country where we have the right to do so. We are free to express ourselves, it’s very important,” insists a passerby.

“People are living less and less well. People are more and more stressed. I will of course go to the streets on Wednesday,” assures another.

“We have to be united, like people were in the past, to have this Labor Day,” hopes another passerby.

Among them there is the ppurchasing power, theunemployment insurance or evenemployment of seniors. “We are also going to work on the problem of the rise of the extreme right which seems to us, for May 1, essential. There are also wars, and not just in Palestine and Ukraine, but everywhere in the world We would like to focus a little on this and also, a focus which is important for us at the CGT, is union discrimination. explains Arnaud Raffier, departmental secretary of the CGT Limoges.

Like last year, en Limousin, lThe mobilization of May 1, 2024 will be placed under the sign of sacred union unity.
